Prithviraj’s Kuruthi is a socio-political thriller
Soon after completing shooting for Tanu Balak’s Cold Case, Prithviraj will join director Manu Warrier’s upcoming movie titled
The movie marks the Mollywood debut of Manu, who had earlier directed the Bollywood film Coffee Bloom starring Arjun Mathur and also scripted Anurag Kashyap’s 2014 series Yudh that starred Amitabh Bachchan. On Kuruthi, he tells us, “It’s a socio-political thriller that has got a bit of drama, action and thrilling elements.”
Apart from Prithviraj, the movie also has Murali Gopy, Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko, Srinda, Manikandan R Achari, Navas Vallikkunnu, Mammukkoya, Naslen and Sagar Surya. “We put together the entire cast over the past few months. Though Prithvi plays the lead, all other characters have equal importance. Their roles will keep the audience hooked to the story,” says the filmmaker.
Talking about the scale of the movie, Manu says, “I am not at liberty to reveal the budget of the film. But I can say that it’s not a film made on a limited budget due to the pandemic. Kuruthi is made on a decent scale.”
On doing a Malayalam film after being busy in Bollywood, the director says, “I liked the subject a lot and that’s why I got in touch with Prithvi, who was also excited after listening to the thread. That’s how he came onboard and I am quite thrilled that he and Supriya decided to produce the film.”
The movie is written by Anish Pallyal and also has established talents such as cinematographer Abinandhan Ramanujam and composer Jakes Bejoy as part of the crew. “Working with them is something that I am very excited about and I am grateful to Prithvi for helping me put together a terrific team,” he says.
The movie will be shot in Erattupetta in a single schedule from December 9 to the second week of January. Kuruthi marks the third production by
