Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer ‘Kaduva’ gets an OTT release date

After a series of underperforming Malayalam movies that were released recently, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s action entertainer ‘Kaduva’ was a breath of fresh air for the audience as it had the 90s-style action and swag. Now the film is gearing up for its OTT release which is scheduled for August 4 this year.

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s ‘Kaduva’ has been not void of several controversies from the time of its announcement itself and after its release also the film entered controversy as one of the scenes in the movie was found to be derogatory for specially-abled kids and their parents. Soon the makers apologized for their mistake and also decided to remove the scene from the movie.

Now, ‘Kaduva’ has been caught in yet another mishap as Jose Kuruvinakkunnel, a resident from Pala’ filed a petition to stop the OTT release of the film. According to the reports, Jose’s complaint says that some of the versions of ‘Kaduva’ have included his name Kuruvachan for the lead character instead of Kuriachan.

For the unversed, Jose Kuruvinakkunnel earlier filed a complaint to stop the release of ‘Kaduva’ as the story was said to be directly lifted from his real life and he also said that there are several sequences in the movie that can defame him and his family. Taking this issue in hand, the Censor Board asked the makers of ‘Kaduva’ to change the lead character's name to Kuriachan instead of Kuruvachan.

Meanwhile, amidst controversies ‘Kaduva’ earned it big at the Kerala box office and became one of the profitable ventures in Mollywood recently. Actors Prithviraj Sukumaran, Vivek Oberoi, Samyuktha Menon, and Kalabhavan Shajohn played major roles in the action entertainer.
