Meghana Raj is back on the Mollywood scene after the long schedule of her second Kannada film, Raja Huli, kept her off the industry for a while. M-Town will next see her as
Prithviraj’s leading lady in
Jeethu Joseph’s
Memories. The actress confesses that she joined the set after she stumbled upon a liberal dose of anti-Prithviraj stories. “Although I’ve teamed up with his elder brother, Indrajith, earlier, this was the first time I was working with Prithviraj.
Little did I know that all the tales I heard about his ‘stargiri’ and attitude were ready to go for a toss,” says Meghana. “Prithvi is hardly the complex guy he’s made out to be. While I had my inhibitions about working with a star of his stature, he let me be myself, not in the least imposing his stardom on the set,” she states.
Ask her if she’s doing a balancing act between Sandalwood and Malayalam films now and Meghana says, “I chose to keep myself out of Sandalwood for some time because films there are mostly hero-centric; such films are hardly the type I’ve wanted to be a part of. Those lie here, in Mollywood. Be it my cop act in
Banking Hours or the small yet prominent part I had in
Red Wine, Mollywood gives me films I can boast of in my career.”
The actress, who has just signed a Kannada film,
Bahuparaak, also adds, “While I’m going slow in Kannada, I ensure that whatever film I sign on doesn’t see me doing a repeat of any role I’ve done before.”
