I think this is the best debut for a fresh face like me.”
The film, directed by debutant Vijay Nagendra, shares its name with the Shankar Nag-starrer from the 1980s. Prayaga had her apprehensions about signing up a movie in a language she has no clue about – Kannada. “I only knew Ganesh sir and nothing else about the industry and I said the same to the director. But I had no option left than saying yes to the project when he finished narrating the script,” she recollects, adding that she is a fan of Ganesh’s maiden movie Mungaru Male.
The actress divulges that she has been looking forward to expanding her wings and she felt that Geetha would be the ideal choice. “I believe that things will happen in its own pace and all one needs to do is work hard,” she says. The film will be shot in different parts of Karnataka and Kolkata.
In Suresh Poduval’s Ulta, Prayaga plays a girl named Paru alongside Gokul Suresh. “He is a very talented and humble gentleman. It is a pleasure to work with him,” she says.
Prayaga divulges that the film is about contemporary life. “I play Anusree’s sister in it and the bond between the siblings has a prominent role in the movie. It is the first time I am doing a sister role, which is different from the usual love interest roles in my previous films. It is a great experience,” she says, adding that her character shares a very special bond with her sister. “In the film, my sister is my role model and the person whom I look up to. However, we have our own ideologies and perspectives. So, we respect and accept each other as individuals. The film takes a turn when Chandu, Gokul Suresh’s character, enters the duo’s life,” she says, adding that the movie is set against a village backdrop.
