'Pravinkoodu Shappu’ box office collections day 2: Basil Joseph’s mystery film mints Rs 1.97 crores

Basil Josephs’ recently released mystery film ‘Pravinkoodu Shappu’ is having a rough start at the box office as the film has seen a huge drop on day 2 itself.

According to the Sacnilk website, ‘Pravinkoodu Shappu’ has collected Rs 1.97 crores from India in 2 days. According to the early estimates by the website, the movie has collected only Rs 62 lakhs on day 2. Looking at the day-wise collections, the movie saw a huge drop on day 2 as the Basil Joseph starrer had collected over Rs 1.35 crores on the opening day.


Coming to the occupancy rates, ‘Pravinkoodu Shappu’ had an overall 18.43 percentage occupancy on January 17, Friday with morning shows at 8.90 percent, afternoon shows at 11.75 percent, evening shows at 17.67 percent, and night shows at 35.38 percent.

Well Etimes gave the film a rating of 2 out of 5 and our exclusive review reads, “The actors start out strong, but just like writer-director Sreeraj Sreenivasan, seems to lose grip in the too-long second half. It’s a shame, because the stylistic filmmaking, enhanced by Shyju Khalid’s cinematography - particularly in a on a chase sequence with a school bus of Kannan’s scooter - Shafeeq Mohammed Ali’s cuts, Vishnu Vijay’s music and Vishnu Govind’s sound, and the quirky characters - reminiscent of KG George’s cult classic Yavanika, could have make it a standout crime drama. Now, it feels more like a why-dunnit.”
