Prakash Bare in support of Shyamaprasad
Prakash Bare is one actor who has the luxury of choosing only those films which he is truly convinced about. The decision has done him good, for his performance in Shyamaprasad’s Ivide as the corporate honcho with a roving eye has been much applauded. So how did he become part of the movie? “Shyamaprasad is an old friend and so when he suggested I do this character who is from an IT background, I decided to go ahead.

It is a comical character who speaks Malayalam with a Kannada twang but Shyamaprasad had the confidence that I can do it,” he says.
Apparently, the actor has been getting plenty of good responses for the character, some even saying it is his best performance so far. Prakash says that he owes a lot of it to the director as well. “Shyamaprasad is someone I respect a lot, who nudges a better performance from his actors. He has a lot of potential which was evident mostly in his works like Ore Kadal. He can do much better but has had to compromise on various aspects owing to the workings of the industry. His potential is not being used fully and that’s a loss to the Malayalam industry, unfortunately,” he says.
Prakash will be seen next in Dr Biju’s Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal which deals with the endosulphan issue. “I play a real life character, Dr Mohankumar and we have sketched the character without disrespecting the actual person.” So will he be continuing with being selective? “Of course. There are so many other options like theatre. It’s not for money that I do movies, it will be a waste of time if I do it that way.”
