For about two years, Mollywood has been asking the question, 'What the hell is happening with
Abrid Shine's '
Poomaram?' Why the film is not released yet despite a hit song from it ruling the charts, way back in 2016?' The crew has not responded with the reasons yet, but they confirm that finally, the film will hit screens on March 15, 2018. There are many reasons for a film buff to check it out, first day first show.
What are they?
1) Kalidas Jayaram's hero debutVeteran actor Jayaram's song Kalidas has already proved that he is an actor par excellence, winning a National Award even as a child artiste, through the 2003 film 'Ente Veedu, Appontem.' After that, Kalidas has been on a long break for studies and it's a few years ago that he surfaced again in the limelight, all slim and trim and imitating top Kollywood stars with ease. He also bagged a few films for his comeback as a hero, in no time. 'Poomaram' is the first he signed in Malayalam and through the songs that of the film that are already released, he won tons of fans too. Now, it's time to see how he fares as a hero in
Malayalam movies!
2) Delayed forever! The shoot of the film was kicked off in September, 2016 and a song from the movie also shot to fame within a few months. However, it's everyone's question as to why then the movie got super delayed. While we don't have an answer to that yet, we will know whether all that wait was worth it, on March 15.

After it was released, it was analysed and dissected like no other song in the recent past, all of which contributed to its popularity. It's a new singer,
Faizal Razi, who sung it and it was a song popularised by some students on the campus of Maharaja's College, after someone heard it from a carpenter! Anyway, the song had an interesting destiny of itself.
4) An Abrid Shine film'1983' and 'Action Hero Biju,' the first two films of shutterbug-turned -filmmaker Abrid Shine, have been rich with refreshing story lines, quality songs, award-winning performances by
Nivin Pauly and never-before cinematic treatment. So, what does he have in store for Malayalam through 'Poomaram?' March 15 has the answer!
5) Back to campus! It's been a while since Malayalam industry enjoyed a quality movie set in a Kerala campus. We have had many hit movies like 'Classmates,' which portrayed Kerala campus with all it's regional essence. Will 'Poomaram,' set in one of the most happening campuses of Kerala, Maharaja's College, treat the path next? We have many reasons to expect that to happen and let's hope the film lives up to the expectations.
