Peace director Sanfeer K turns music director
Peace director Sanfeer K has turned music director and lyricist for Vayassethrayaayi Muppathi, helmed by Pappan T Nambiar. Apart from doing the background score for the film, he has written one song, a Malabar wedding song titled Puyyamapilla Thakkar, which has been rendered by singer-actor-director Vineeth Sreenivasan.
“The film, a satire comedy, has six songs in all,” says Sanfeer. “I got roped in by DOP Sameer Gibran, who had done the cinematography for my film.” He had written the lyrics for Mama Chayel Urumbu, sung by Shahabaz Aman for his film, and says that he composes music, and while this is his first film work, he has also done the music for some upcoming projects.
“Scoring the music for this was quite a learning process and I got quite a kick out of doing it,” he says. How did his experience as a director aid him as a musician? “While doing the music for the title credits, I felt I could place certain background songs in the right position. Also, the BGM could make some difference to some scenes; that came from my experience as a director. For me, the most important thing was to ensure where silence worked best,” he says. Film has the quirks of a rural setting
Speaking about the film, which features Prasant Murali, Remya Suresh and Chithra Nair in prominent roles, Sanfeer says, “Though the film doesn’t have big stars, it is quite a big project, with about 400 junior artistes. “It is a regional story set in Vadakara, and has also been shot in Coorg. It is in a rural setting, so it has several quirky village characters. The climax is an eight-minute single shot with junior artistes.”
He is also currently working on the pre-production of his next film.
