At the recent gathering of Women in Cinema Collective at Kochi, celebrating a year since its inception, actress Parvathy explained about its latest initiative called

Punarvayana

.

“Literally, Punarvayana means re-reading but it essentially also means re-visiting and re-investigating. I believe we need to learn from our past and start talking about it instead of only pointing fingers and asking questions. If we are asking questions, we should be asking the right ones. It’s also to bring the focus back to cinema itself,” she said.

The team screened the movie

Mirch Masala

and also discussed what the film meant to different participants. “In the coming months, we will have bigger screenings and we expect bigger participation and hope it will bring more awareness on why cinema is an extremely important part of our politics and how it influences our society,” Parvathy said.
