Parthiepan donates 900 kg of rice and materials to Kerala for flood relief

The Tamil film fraternity has been exceptionally generous in donating money and relief materials for the flood affected in Kerala. On Thursday night, actress Amala Paul found a truckload of relief materials at her doorstep, sent by actor director R Parthiepan. “He had been in touch with me and had asked what is needed. I said it would be great if he could send some materials. He has sent 900 kg of rice, 10-15 boxes of medicines, blankets and also eatables. It’s very sweet of him,” says Amala.

Amala contacted ex collector Rajamanickam and has arranged for the materials to be sent to those in need, in Aluva. “I have been coordinating with people I know in Chennai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad as they all want to help. We need a lot of rice, so we are coordinating with people from Andhra, especially.”

Amala herself had donated materials to camps. “I had been to my school in Aluva which was a camp. I live in Kakkanad, which was not affected by the floods, so there were plenty of camps here as well. Unfortunately, many from the interiors of Aluva are still in camps here,” she says.
