All you should know about ‘Padayaatra’
Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan are reuniting 32 years after ‘Vidheyan’. ‘Padayaatra’ marks their fourth collaboration, which is quite interesting. “As the scripting was going on, only Mammootty’s face came to my mind for the central character. I felt that he would be the perfect person for the role. This will be the fourth time he plays the male lead in one of my films. I’ve never worked with any other lead actor that many times,” Adoor Gopalakrishnan told Manorama News earlier. The story, screenplay, and dialogues for the film is jointly crafted by Adoor Gopalakrishnan and KV Mohankumar.
On the technical side, the film has Meerasahib as the associate director. Cinematographer Shehnand Jalal, editor Praveen Prabhakar, and music director Mujeeb Majeed are also part of the crew. Others include production designer Shajie Naduvil, sound designer Kishan Mohan of Sapthaa Records, makeup artists Ronex Xavier and George Sebastian, and costume designer SB Satheesan.
As Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Mammootty have earlier delivered outstanding films such as ‘Anantaram’, ‘Mathilukal’ and ‘Vidheyan’, the anticipation around the upcoming film is huge.
‘Anantaram’, released in 1987, was their first film together. The psychological drama featured Ashokan, Mammootty, and Shobana in the lead roles. Later in 1990, they teamed up for ‘Mathilukal’, an adaptation of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's novel. Mammootty won the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film. Later, they collaborated for the 1994 release ‘Videyan’, in which Mammootty essayed the role of tyrannical landlord Bhaskara Pattelar. That role is still considered one of the career's best performances of Mammootty.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Mammootty’s recent outing was ‘Kalamkaaval’.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
