Director P Chandrakumar, who introduced Malayalam cinema with soft porn culture from late 70's, shared an interesting story about the all-time great Malayalam comedian late Adoor Bhasi. The director reportedly shared an incident involving
Adoor Bhasi on the sets of 'Ni En Lahari'.
Reminiscing the time when they were shooting for
Kamal Haasan starrer 'Nee En Lahari', Chandrakumar said that Adoor used to spit in his favourite snack, a pack of peanuts, in order to make sure no one in the set takes from it when Adoor is performing. Chandrasekhar, who was the assistant director of that movie then, seeing Adoor's act, took out some peanuts from the packet and spat on it, and left there as if nothing happened. Adoor after giving his take came for his munchies and saw that someone has taken a share from the packet that he had spat on. With a smile of accomplishment, Adoor ate the rest of the peanuts, while every other person in the set was laughing at Adoor.
Adoor didn't know what happened for a long time but when he found out Chandrakumar has fooled him, he was furious at the director. After a long time, Adoor came to see Chandrakumar at a movie location and asked the director to assist him for his next movie, which Chanrakumar obliged to. Adoor then invited Chandrakumar for lunch, which was unlike Adoor's character. At the lunch table, Adoor persisted Chandrakumar to eat fish fry and when he ate only the director understood it was the bitter gourd. Chandrakumar remembers how happy Adoor Bhasi was, to fool him back.
Chandrakumar also said Adoor has the tendency to find
happiness
in the pain of others, but said that, as an actor, Adoor was invincible.
