‘Our film is a reflection of societal interference in a married couple's lives'

Arjun Ashokan’s next film, Anpodu Kanmani, features Anagha Narayanan as the female lead and explores the expectations weighing down a newly married couple, Nakulan and Shalini. Speaking about the film, lead producer Vipin Pavithran says, “The film humorously portrays how family and relatives pressure the couple about having a child soon after their marriage. It explores how societal interference affects their personal lives.”

Directed by Liju Thomaz, known for Kavi Udeshichath and the short film Ramaniyechiyude Naamathil, Anpodu Kanmani is a satirical comedy. “It delves into the struggles people face with constant questions like ‘Vishesham ayille’ and shows how it impacts relationships. We hope it inspires people to address issues within their families,” says Vipin. The film’s screenplay is penned by Aneesh Koduvalli. “This project is a result of our group of friends coming together to bring Aneesh’s story to life,” Vipin adds.

The film also carries a heartfelt initiative. The team built a house as part of the set, as the script required a specific type of house and neighborhood. After completing the shoot, they donated the house to a family in need. “We felt it made sense to build something meaningful that would last beyond the shoot,” shares Vipin, who is also the Managing Director of Skywings Builders. The house was completed in 70 days, and coincidentally, Honorable Minister Suresh Gopi learned about the initiative and handed over the keys on the last day of the shoot.

Anpodu Kanmani is produced under the banner of Kreative Fish by Vipin Pavithran, Prabeesh Chambeth, Anil Pola, and Dhanraj Nair. The film is now running in theatres.
