Poet P Kunhiraman Nair’s granddaughter and vocalist
Seema Sreekumar is all set to debut in Malayalam as a filmmaker.
Her first venture, titled ‘Oru Canadian Diary,’ is a psychological thriller that was shot predominantly in Canada. The film also has a few portions set in Kerala. The project has newbies featured both in its cast and crew, and its script and dialogues are also written by the director herself.
Seema, who got trained in moviemaking from Canada, has apparently been working on ‘Oru Canadian Diary’ for about two years. Its shoot was completed before the onset of Covid 19 and now, the post production works are on. The team is thinking about releasing the movie by the second week of November, we hear.
The film has the characters Soorya and Sera as the protagonists of its story. Sera goes to Canada for higher studies and then on, they don’t stay connected. Soorya travels to Canada in search of Sera and the movie explores the various issues Soorya goes on to face, in this journey.
The movie was mostly shot in locations like Toronto, Hamilton, Niagra, London, Ontario and more, in temperatures ranging from minus 25 to 20 degrees. The movie also shows the frozen Niagra waterfalls at one juncture.
Sreem Productions is producing the film which has MV Sreekumar behind the camera and KA Latheef as the music director. Unni Menon, Madhu Balakrishnan, and Rahul Krishnan sing the film’s songs, which have lyrics by Sivakumar Varikkara and Sreethi Sujay. Harikrishnan MB has composed its background score.
