Now, Nimisha turns radio jockey
Looks like good times are here for Nimisha. After a handful of second-heroine roles in Mollywood, the actress, who enters Kollywood as the heroine of director Vikraman’s 'Ninaithathu Yaaro', seems to be getting her due closer home as well. Nimisha has been signed on for Rajasenan’s 'Radio Jockey', which will have her play the title role.
Interestingly, this is the first time Nimisha will play the lead in a heroine-centric film, despite her presence in the industry over the past few years.
1x1 polls
“The film centres on the life of a radio jockey. Rajasenan Sir is known for his family entertainers which have been lapped up by the audience. I hope 'Radio Jockey' finds its place in the list of such superhits which he has helmed,” says Nimisha, who has just wound up the shoot of her first film in Kollywood.
“The Malayalam film industry has offered me mostly supporting roles; so it was an experience in itself to play the lead in 'Ninaithathu Yaaro'. Co-incidentally, while I started off playing supporting roles, the films that came my way from then on were more or less similar. And now, the kind of roles that are being offered to me — especially in Tamil — are equally interesting. Although I had offers from Tamil before, I was bent upon the fact that I would take up only films that give me enough scope for performance. Thankfully, the wait has proved fruitful.”
Nimisha considers her Tamil debut all the more special as director Vikraman is backed by a history of hits. “His films have been the launch pad of many leading Tamil actors of the day. What more can I ask for?” she beams.
