Screenwriter-producer-actor of ‘
Helen’ and now the creative director of ‘Mili’,
Noble Babu Thomas dons many hats. From starting his career as a producer to later shouldering the National Award-winning ‘Helen’, as a co-screenwriter-producer-actor and now the creative director or ‘Mili’, the upcoming Bollywood movie starring
Janhvi Kapoor, Noble Babu Thomas has come a long way. ‘Mili’ is the Hindi remake of ‘Helen’. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Noble Babu Thomas recalls his memorable scene as an actor from ‘Helen’ and also shares the experience working in the directorial department for ‘Mili’.
Noble Babu Thomas who initially joined hands with debutant director Mathukutty for ‘Helen’ as a producer, later became one of the scriptwriters of the film and also played a pivotal role in the film. He essayed the role of Azhar, who is in a romantic relationship with the protagonist Helen (Anna Ben). Although he was no new to the entertainment industry, acting wasn’t really his forte, but the charmer surely managed to give an impressive performance for a debutant.
When asked about his memorable scene in the film, Noble Babu Thomas recalled, “My introduction scene is close to heart. But, the one I was very nervous about was the combination scene I had with Lal sir.
I had to deliver a lengthy dialogue that involved this dialogue, ‘Helen is not a girl who would forget the 25 years of your upbringing, in a single night’. This was a crucial scene for my character Azhar as well, because, it pretty much establishes him and also builds trust in the mind of the audience. I was very nervous about pulling off the argumentative dialogue opposite Lal sir. He is obviously an incredible actor, and in this scene, his character is in a very emotional moment, as his daughter Helen is missing. I stood opposite him, he had this towering personality and I was so petite compared to him. I panicked a little bit, but hopefully did it! Being part of the scriptwriting process has really helped me in acting.”
Sharing about working with ‘Mili’ as the creative director, he adds, “I explored a whole new side while working in ‘Mili’. Here I am part of the directorial side and have learned the challenges and difficulties in this department.”
The team will be soon launching a glimpse of ‘Mili’ as the lion’s portion of the shoot has been completed.
