Nivin Pauly on ‘Thuramukham’: It’s been a long journey

‘Thuramukham’ directed by Rajeev Ravi, featuring Nivin Pauly in the lead role has finally hit the big screens today (Mar 10), after multiple rescheduling. The film tells the uprising of labourers against the infamous ‘chappa’ system that was prevalent in the Mattancherry harbour from the 1930s to ‘50s.

Bringing ‘Thuramukham’ to the theatres was nothing short of a revolution for the makers, and as the film has finally arrived, Nivin Pauly has penned a note. The actor dropped a note on social media wherein he speaks about the ‘long journey’. “Finally!! The day we have been looking forward to, is here. It’s been a long journey. Helmed by Rajeev Ravi, the story of ‘Thuramukham’ is set between 1923 to 1957. An action-packed period drama, Thuramukham’ speaks about the infamous ‘chappa’ system, where a copper coin was tossed in the air and workers had to fight to grab the coin for work. The film boasts a talented cast of Nivin Pauly, Joju George, Indrajith, Sudev Nair, Manikandan, Arjun Asokan, Nimisha Sajayan, and Poornima Indrajith, handling some pivotal roles in the film.
