Neha Saxena: Director Vijaykumar offered me ‘Dayabharti’, as he was impressed by my role in ‘Sakhavinte Priyasakhi'

Actress Neha Saxena, best known for her roles in ‘Kasaba" and ‘Sakhavinte Priyasakhi," is headlining an upcoming Malayalam film titled 'Dayabharti'. The gorgeous actress is playing the titular character, and in an exclusive conversation with ETimes, she speaks about how she landed the role.

Neha Saxena plays the role of Daya, a school teacher who is posted at a tribal village. The film is said to deliver a strong social message. "The film has a powerful message, and I have a performance-oriented role," Neha Saxena tells us.

The diva recalls that ‘Dayabharti’ is perhaps the first film she has signed in a matter of hours. "I was filming in Malta when I got the offer. Director Vijaykumar Sir narrated the story over the phone. Though it was intriguing and intense, I was skeptical whether I could pull it off because it was unlike anything I have done so far. I conveyed it right away, but he was confident. He offered me ‘Dayabharti’, as he was impressed by my role in ‘Sakhavinte Priyasakhi'. I landed in India on November 10 and joined the sets of ‘Dayabharti’ on November 11! This is undoubtedly the first time I have signed the dotted line in such haste. Our director had clarity about what he was doing; everything fell into place, and we shot. I had a great time filming with the team in Athirappilly. The film has now gone into post-production," the actress shares.

The film also has Kailash in a prominent role, and singer Hariharan will be making a cameo appearance.
