While there were several big budget period projects announced over the course of the past one year in Mollywood, the first to go on floors will be
Mammootty’s Maamaakam.
The team will start shooting next week for a small schedule, and we hear that Mammootty will be joined by
Neeraj Madhav and Queen fame
Druvan
. For the latter, it’s a big step considering he’s just a film old.
Director
Sajeev Pillai confirms that the duo is part of the cast. “Neeraj and Druvan will play important roles in the movie. The cast will have newcomers and also a few established actors. However, we will be confirming the big names only after the shooting in February is over,” he says.
Sajeev though remains tight-lipped on whether the duo play warriors in the film, which is set in the 17th century and revolves around the life of the warriors called Chaverukal who plot to overthrow the Zamorin rulers.
The first schedule, the director says, will only have a few days of shooting and Mammootty will be part of it. “Extensive filming will start only in May,” he says.
The VFX team will also use this schedule to test the special effects they have in mind for the movie.
