Nalla Vishesham

is a film by debutant director Ajithan with a narrative around the exploitation of environmental in the name of development. Scripted by Vinod Vishwan, and with Nurudheen Bava behind the camera, 'Nalla Vishesham' gets unabashedly preachy about the environment.

Kashi is an environmental activist based in Aryankaavu. He has dedicated his life's work in preserving the soil and water of Aryankaavu by promoting organic farming. And when a few school students show up to study his farming ethics Kashi is made privy to the deterioration environmental conditions in his village. As the interval approaches he takes it over him to find the culprit and bring him to books.
'Nalla Vishesham' is a technically amateur attempt. The linear and documentary style narrative practically negates any story whatsoever. The village ambience lacks authenticity and the textbook language and inept dubbing doesn't help the narrative one bit.

In the face of the Alappad mining issue that has been gathering momentum, 'Nalla Vishesham' tries to make a statement. It hopes to raise awareness, and inspire action, but fails at being cinematic in nature.
