She will be playing a prominent role in the upcoming movie

Chattambi

, directed by Abhilash S Kumar and scripted by Don Palathara. The film also has Sreenath Bhasi and Chemban Vinod in major roles.

Director Abhilash tells us, “Mythili plays a character named Raji. She is into the sale of arrack in the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border region, where the story is set. Raji doesn’t hail from the place, but gets there after wandering around in Thodupuzha, Konni and the like. She also has an interesting backstory of having a broken affair, followed by a marriage in which she ended up cheating on her husband, and eventually developing a general mistrust in men. She doesn’t enjoy a great reputation and is into arrack sales and goon activities with Chemban

’s character John. He is married to Grace Antony’s character, but has an illicit relationship with Raji.”

The film is based on an incident that happened around 1995-96. Don Palathara also reveals that the story is set aroud a murder. “All of these characters are real and their story is presented cinematically, in the film, which was shot around Koottaar, Vandanmedu and Chellarkovil,” says Abhilash.

Interestingly, Raji’s look isn’t designed following the stereotypical understandings of the look of women from that era. “I wanted to break that image. I felt Mythili, who has been away for a while from films awaiting good roles and being busy in business activities, fits the bill,” he says. Abhilash calls Chattambi a “mixed genre film,” and says the script is character drama-driven. The film’s additional script and dialogues are by its DOP Alex Joseph and music is by

Shekhar Menon

.
“Sreenath Bhasi plays the titular chattambi or goon, named Scaria, who goes around the village picking fights,” says Don, adding the film offers a character study of the different people. The shoot has wrapped up in Idukki.
