Aparna Vinod, who is making her M-Town debut with Priyanandanan’s Njan Ninnodu Koodeyundu, is on cloud nine. She plays the lead character, Thara, a village belle, and is cast opposite Siddharth Bharathan in the movie. The newbie actress says she has always been passionate about acting and that’s why she was even ready to take a break from academics for a year. “It was cinematographer Shaan Rahman who told me about the movie. I went for the audition and got selected. I had just joined college for an undergraduate course at that time, and had to discontinue the course,” says Aparna.
However, Aparna is not regretting her decision. “During the initial days, I was a bundle of nerves. Right from the start I told my co-stars to help me as I was a beginner. In fact, before shooting every sequence, I used to deliver a mock act before Siddharth and Vinay, and that helped,” she says.
While she did fine with the acting part, her makeover as a village belle made her cry. “It’s a role with very little make-up and different hairdo. And the make-up artists had to work really hard to attain that look. To be honest, I felt like crying after the makeover and decided not to look in the mirror till the end of the shoot,” says Aparna.
Her troubles didn’t end there. The movie was shot in a village named Papda in Madhya Pradesh, which doesn’t even have the basic amenities, she says. “We had to travel more than 75 kilometres to reach the location. The shooting used to start in the wee hours and continue till late in the evening. I was really tanned by the time the shoot got over. But, honestly, I am more than happy to start my career with such a movie,” she signs off.
