Musician Kailas Menon writes an inspiring note for students who are anxious about their future

who are anxious about their future during this uncertain time. Kailas Menon began the note reminding all that ‘life is a marathon, not a sprint’.

“To the student community out there. We know that you are worried and anxious about your future. And that is completely normal in these unprecedented times. But if you take a look around, you will realise, how, as students you are at a much better stage in your life right now. Take a moment to think about the people who are out of work right now—those daily wage labourers, artistes, musicians, small and large business owners, and all people who lost jobs. Most of them have a family to take care of, bills to be paid, and debts to be cleared.” Kailas said in the note.The music composer has also asked the students to not panic as the admissions, exams or classes get a bit delayed. Menon also reminded them that there is no meaning in being in a rat race. “Don’t panic even if your admissions get a little delayed, classes don’t happen like before, or placements get deferred. It’s the system that makes you believe or pushes you into a rat race. That, if you don't rush, you lose your chance. Don't let the system suck you into this fake race. It’s ok to take it slow. Because make no mistake, once you have given into the rat race, there is no turning back. The lucrative jobs soon turn monotonous. You’ll soon realise that it is the same year after year. You keep on doing the same things, albeit in a different manner everyday. Then, you’ll desperately hope for a break like this. But you may not be able to afford it then,” he added.

Kailas Menon also added that the situation will improve and one has to stop worrying. “And many of you worry about becoming a ‘burden’ to your parents, when you are not able to stand on your own feet. You are never a burden to them. They are your parents; they’ll protect you no matter what, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Believe that things will get better. And the best way to go about this pandemic, is to make the most of the unexpected time that you have got in your hands.So stop worrying. Things will be alright soon. Great things take years to build; so don’t rush it.
