Murphy Devasy: ‘Nalla Nilavulla Rathri’ is a survival thriller - Exclusive

The title poster of ‘Nalla Nilavulla Rathri’ was launched last week, and it grabbed the attention of movie buffs for all the right reasons. Written and directed by debutant Murphy Devasy, ‘Nalla Nilavulla Rathri’ boasts an ensemble cast of Chemban Vinod Jose, Jinu Joseph, Binu Pappu, Ganapathi, Sajin Cherukayil, and Nithin George. Speaking exclusively to ETimes, the debutant director spills the beans about the film.

Set against the backdrop of a village, the upcoming film is touted to be a thriller. “It’s a pure thriller. The film revolves around four friends. ‘Nalla Nilavulla Rathri’ is a survival thriller,” Murphy Devasy shares.

The director also adds that the film barely has female characters, “It’s completely a men’s story. Female characters only appear in about three scenes in the film. I feel it has been a while since we have seen such stories. But, I am sure that all kinds of audiences will be able to relate to our story.”

Chemban Vinod Jose is playing one of the lead roles in ‘Nalla Nilavulla Rathri’, and the director tells us that his character is a ‘raw boy’! “We can find Chemban’s character amongst us. He plays a ‘raw boy’. Since it’s a thriller, I cannot disclose more details about the film or the characters,” the director adds.

Idukki and Chalakkudy were the major locations of the film. The makers wrapped up the shoot a couple of days ago, and ‘Nalla Nilavulla Rathri’ will soon go into post-production.

On the technical front, Ajay David Kachappilly is the lensman, and Syam Sasidharan is in charge of the edits. The music is done by Kailas, and the sound design is done by Vishnu Govind. Thyagu Thavanoor is the production designer. The action sequences are choreographed by Rajasekhar.
