Murali Gopy pays tribute to father Bharath Gopy on birth anniversary
Actor writer Murali Gopy paid tribute to his late father, Bharath Gopy, on the occasion of his 83rd birth anniversary. His note on social media, with a family photo, gave a glimpse into the multi-State Award and National Award winner, who was not only a respected actor, but also a lauded director and producer.
Speaking of what Bharath Gopy has conveyed to his children - Murali and Minu - as lessons, Murali wrote, “As I look back today, your birth anniversary, I remember how seldom we, as a family, posed for photoshoots.

I remember how strictly you prevented us kids from being in the limelight and missing out on the precious vignettes that a normal life offered. I remember how you demystified the life of a “film star”, for us to take notes from it. I remember how you succumbed to, and then, overcame the struggles of your life. I remember how you fell from the heights and rose later. I remember you, every moment, for the great parent and phenomenon that you were.... Thank you, for never trying to teach us anything. Thank you, for being our lesson.”

The National Film Archives of India recently paid tribute to Bharath Gopy with the ‘face of the week’ honour, remembering him for his roles in Adoor Gopalakrishnan's Kodiyettam, Rachana, Ormakkayi, Chidambaram, Kattathe Kilikoode and Mani Kaul’s Satah Se Uthata Admi. It gave a taste of the range of roles that the actor had done. The Padma Shri awardee passed away on January 24, 2008.
Interestingly, it is also actor Kunchacko Boban’s 44th birthday today.
