Being part of a Mani Ratnam/ Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie, or a historic extravaganza, a sports movie, a bold woman, politician - you might get plenty of similar answers if you ask an actor what his/ her

dream role

is. But if you ask Kaniha the same, her answer wouldn’t be any of these, especially at this juncture. She would say ‘a mother’! Kaniha, who has worked in most of the South Indian films including Malayalam, has given life to many characters on screen. However, in her nearly two-decades-long career, and especially after becoming a

mother

herself, Kaniha hardly got any full-length roles that explore the intensity of a mother and child.

Speaking exclusively to ETimes, Kaniha opened up about her wish of wanting to portray a doting mother onscreen.

Kaniha is someone who has managed to pull off both personal and professional life alike, without losing the importance of any. An affectionate mother, Kaniha swears that being a mother has only made her a better person, “Motherhood is such a beautiful phase in life. Your child becomes your priority. Even as a couple, you just roll into another phase of life. It also changes the dynamics you have with your mother. I always see change as a positive thing.”

The actress also shared that being a mother helped her evolve as an individual and also divulged that she would love to play the role of a mother onscreen. “I would love to do a movie that portrays

motherhood

. I have never played one and I have always longed to do one. I would absolutely love to work on a film that discusses the intense and complex relationship a mother shares with her child,” Kaniha added desperately.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kaniha will be next seen in ‘Paappan’, a film helmed by master filmmaker Joshiy and has Suresh Gopi in the lead.
