Living in times when home-grown heroines from Mollywood cross borders and enter film industries elsewhere to court glamour, what actress Ineya has to say might sound a little strange. Shruthi Sawant, aka Kollywoods Ineya, who scripted a success story in Kollywood before she decided to debut closer home as the heroine of
Bhoopadathil Illatha Oridam, says, In comparison to the Tamil scripts Ive been listening to of late, its Mollywood that has been offering me more of glam roles. So do we get to see Kwoods village belle at her glamorous best soon? Theres no predicting.
You never know! she says with a laugh.
However, the actress, currently filming for director Thangar Bachans
Ammavin Kaipesi in Neyveli near Pondichery, clarifies that she is looking for interesting and offbeat characters than glamorous ones. Which is why, she claims, she has just given the nod to her second outing in M-Town director Ummer Mohammeds Radio. The film will have me playing a salesgirl at a jewellery shop. I couldnt let Radio pass as it offered me a powerful heroine-centric character. Ive never been enticed by glamorous roles and sign up a film only if Im convinced Ive a substantial part to play in it, says Ineya.
Meanwhile, Ineyas Kollywood stint continues, full on. Ive been lucky enough to act in the projects of veteran directors as well as new-age filmmakers projects. The way it helps shape the actor in a beginner like me is immeasurable, Ineya says.
