Popular Mollywood director Mahesh Soman breathed his last on January 9, Monday and the funeral will be held at his house. Mahesh Soman is famous for the Malayalam film ‘Sundhari Kakka’. Mahesh Soman was 59.
Hailing from Kaipamangalam, Mahesh Soman has directed several telefilms and he has also helmed another film by the name ‘Archanapookkal’ which unfortunately was not completed. FEFKA Directors Union shared their condolences for the ace director via their official Facebook handle.

FEFKA Directors Union shared a picture of Mahesh Soman via their official Facebook page and penned, “Mahesh Soman (59) who directed the movie Sundarikakka starring Suresh Gopi, Jagadeesh and Siddique passed away. He is a native of Kayppamangalam. The film directed in the name 'Archanapookkal' is not completed. Directed a lot of telefilms. Funeral will be held at home. Tributes from FEFKA Directors Union .!!
Although Mahesh Soman has only directed one film ‘Sundhari Kakka’, the movie gained much popularity and had the star casts Suresh Gopi, Innocent, and Jagadish in the lead roles.
‘Sundhari Kakka’ was touted to be a comedy family drama and the movie was released in the year 1991. The film had a heavenly musical score by Johnson and most of the songs went to the hit charts.
‘Sundhari Kakka’ was bankrolled by V Varghese and Pattanam Rasheed handled the makeup department.
Meanwhile, the superhit 1991 film ‘Sundhari Kakka’ also had several talented actors such as Manoj K Jayan, Prem Kumar, KPAC Lalitha, Mammukoya, Valsala Menon, Karamana Janardanan Nair, and Philomina who played significant roles.
