Speaking to the media, Malavika Sreenath said that she has been a victim of the casting couch and she felt this is the right time to open up. She revealed that the situation happened three years back when she was called for the audition for a Manju Warrier film where she was supposed to play the role of her daughter. Later she understood that the people who auditioned for her were not part of the movie in any way and she still went for it as she didn’t have any contacts in the film industry. Malavika was also excited that she will be getting a chance to play the role of Manju Warrier’s daughter.
Explaining the situation, Malavika reportedly said that she was auditioning for the role in a glass room and was asked by the guy to adjust her hair in the dressing room where he came from behind and groped her. Malavika further said that he took advantage of the situation and asked her to stand there just for 10 minutes and do nothing.
Malavika also said to the media that the person had a camera which she tried to retrieve and ran out of the room crying. She boarded a bus and cried a lot on the bus. She also further said that she had to face the casting couch two to three times.
Further Malavika said that she was asked openly by several senior actors and directors and as a result of not working with those people, she never got to do many films for a long time.
