Popular Mollywood actor Mamukkoya breathed his last on Wednesday, April 26. The 76-year-old actor was admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode as he complained of physical discomfort while attending an inaugural event in Malappuram on the last day.
The popular actor slalomed into the hearts of every Malayalam movie buff with his memorable comedy roles in classic films such as ‘Ponmuttayidunna Thaaravu’, ‘Nadodikkaattu’, ‘Kireedam’ and several others.
The actor made his debut in the Malayalam film industry with the movie ‘Anyarude Bhoomi’ which was released in the year 1979 and was directed by Nilambur Balan.
Mamukkoya has also captured the hearts of cinephiles with serious roles and he has also won a special mention in the Kerala State Film Awards 2004 for portraying the character Abdu in the drama movie ‘Perumazhakkalam’ which was helmed by the director Kamal.
On the other hand, Mamukkoya’s recent outing was with the romantic drama film ‘Sulaikha Manzil’ starring Lukman and Anarkali Marikkar in the lead. Mamukkoya got much appreciation for his serious performance in the Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer thriller drama movie ‘Kuruthi’ which was directed by Manu Warrier and was released in the year 2021.
Some of the popular movies of Mamukkoya include ‘Kavadiyattam’, ‘My Dear Muthachan’, ‘Ezhara Ponnana’, ‘Sandesham’, and ‘Bhaagyavaan’.
