Popular Mollywood actor CV Dev, who has played several prominent roles in Malayalam movies, breathed his last on Monday, June 26. He was 83. The veteran actor’s funeral rites were held on Tuesday morning at West Hill Crematorium.

Reportedly, CV Dev was undergoing medical treatment at a popular hospital in Kozhikode due to heart issues. CV Dev is survived by his wife Janaki and children Sukanya, Sukavya, and Sukathmajan.

Born in 1940 in Vadakara Chemmarathur, CV Dev was the eldest son of Narayani and Kanaran. CV Dev made his acting debut with the film ‘Yaro Oral, which was released in 1978 and was directed by VK Pavithran. The movie featured the actors Prathima, Adam Ayub, and ACK Raja in significant lead roles.

CV Dev has also received the prestigious PJ Antony Memorial Award and the Guru Pooja Award for his magnificent contributions to the Malayalam film industry.

CV Dev has made his debut in several classic films in Mollywood. Some of his most famous works include ‘Sadayam’, ‘Njan’, ‘Manassinakkare’, ‘Ullam’, ‘Urumbukal Urangarilla’, ‘Chandrolsavam’, ‘Sukhamayirikatte’, ‘Mizhi Randilum’, and many more.
