Mohanlal’s maiden directorial venture ‘Barroz’ has been in the news ever since its announcement. The film which was expected to release on October 3, has been pushed further. A few unconfirmed reports suggest that Mohanlal’s film will be finally arriving in the theatres in December 2024. If the reports are to be believed, ‘Barroz’ might hit the cinemas on December 19, and will clash with the highly anticipated film ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’, which is set to hit theatres on December 20, 2024.

A Twitter forum wrote, “#Barroz from December 19. To clash with #MufasaTheLionKing globally. Tough decision for the makers this would be. Need to cash in on holiday period but at the same time good screens in multiplexes across major Malayalam markets can go to Mufasa.”

There is no official confirmation from the makers regarding the release date yet.

Meanwhile, the cinematographer of ‘Barroz’ veteran Santosh Sivan had recently confirmed that he and Mohanlal along with others saw the first screening of the film. The makers also launched an animated series of late, and it managed to create some buzz amongst the movie buffs.

On the other hand, ‘Barroz’ recently hit a roadblock after an NRI Indian author sued the makers over a copyright dispute. According to a report by Indian Express, the NRI author George Thundiparambil has requested the court to issue a prohibitory injunction blocking the release of Mohanlal’s directorial venture.
