Mohanlal’s much-anticipated directorial debut, ‘Barroz’, is officially set to grace theaters on October 3, 2024. This announcement puts an end to the speculation surrounding the film’s release, which had been delayed multiple times.

The legendary actor took to Twitter to share the news, unveiling a new poster along with a message that read, “Barroz is coming to reveal his secrets on 3rd October 2024. Mark your calendars for a magical adventure! #Barroz3D #Oct3.”

Initially planned for a September 12 release during the Onam season, ‘Barroz’ was expected to compete with Tovino Thomas' fantasy action flick, ‘Ajayante Randam Moshanam’. However, moving the release date to October has averted the potential box office clash.

‘Barroz’ is a period fantasy film based on Jijo Punnoose's novel Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure. The story is about Barroz, the guardian of Vasco da Gama's hidden treasure, who has protected the riches for over 400 years. Mohanlal not only directs but also stars in the titular role, making this project one of the most awaited in recent times. The film features music by Lydian Nadhaswaram and is shot in immersive 3D, promising a visually stunning experience.

On the other hand, Mohanlal’s previous outing was with the period action film ‘Malaikottai Vaaliban’ which was directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. The movie that came with high expectations, failed to impress the audiences.
