Mohanlal turns rock star

Very soon, superstar Mohanlal will be seen in a new avatar, that of a rockstar!
The actor will be performing and singing on stage as part of the Lalisom band, which will recreate viewers’ favourite songs of the actor in an innovative manner. In other words, it will be a travelogue of the actor’s career, spanning 36 years, through his hit songs.
The idea of a live performance took shape on the day music director Ratheesh Vega recorded the most popular track sung by Mohanlal till date, Aattumanal Payayil.That evening, Mohanlal called up Ratheesh and expressed his desire to continue their musical journey. “That phone call from Mohanlal will remain the most memorable event in my career, and that is when I hit upon this idea,” says Ratheesh, the brain behind the concept. Along with seven other members, including vocalists, the band will give their first performance in early 2015, in venues outside Kerala as well.
“I will be singing, but we are yet to finalise on the songs. Ratheesh has mapped a format for the songs, and so it won’t be an ordinary performance. I will be relating my philosophy and my experiences during the making of a song. There will also be conversations between my character and Mohanlal, presented through hologram technology. It is difficult to explain hologram; it’s best the viewers watch it and see for themselves,” said Mohanlal.
The performances, which will last around 2.5 hours each, will have at least 30 songs. However, Ratheesh stresses that the original feel of the songs will be retained, and there will be no over instrumentalisation. “The show is my gift to my viewers, to show my gratitude to them. As a performer, this is the only way I can give back,” said Mohanlal.

Exploring the various wondrous corners of the planet has been the passion of megastar Mohanlal for long.
He had said recently that he would soon pen a travelogue featuring a few of his journeys. Now we hear that the actor is gearing up for an expedition generally undertaken by hard core travel fanatics — a trip to Antarctica!
A source close to him confirms, “Mohanlal will be leaving for the cold continent on November 14. His wife Suchithra and son Pranav will also be with him.” Pranav also shares his father’s wanderlust. While rumours were rife about the star kid’s debut as an actor, Mohanlal had said that what excites the youngster more is travelling.
Recently, Mohanlal’s trip to catch World Cup Football finals in Brazil had also grabbed plenty of attention. Some of his fans even spotted him from the multitudes of spectators at the venue and the photos were widely circulated in the online space. The news about him turning choosy has been doing the rounds for a while and looks like the actor is keen to devote more time for travel and music.
