Mohanlal to play scientist Nambi Narayanan?
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal may soon be taking up what could be one of the most challenging roles of his career. He is to portray famed ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan in director Ananth Narayan Mahadevans next, tentatively titled 'Witch Hunt'.
The Mumbai-based director is known to have met the scientist recently to finalise on the project. Ananth is keen on having only Mohanlal to essay the role of the protagonist in this one, says a source close to the development.

Nambi Narayanan, once the star scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to whom goes the credit for introducing liquid-fuel rocket technology in India, was charged with leaking defence secrets pertaining to rocket and satellite launches to foreign countries in 1994. The scientist was arrested and jailed at that point of time and allegedly tortured. However, he fought the charges valiantly and emerged victorious.
Nambi Narayanan has said that his professional and personal life has been damaged irrecoverably by the allegations and that the fight for compensation was only a fight for justice. Only a few weeks ago, the Kerala High Court ordered an amount of 10 lakh to be paid to Nambi Narayanan as compensation for the same.
Actor Mohanlal confirms news of his intention to take up the role. Talks are on for the film, but nothing has been finalised yet, he says.
Director Mahadevan is known for his work on biopics such as Mee Sindhutai Sapkal and Red Alert, both stories of real life people, who suffer injustice in life and fight back.
