Mohanlal pens an emotional note, remembering Nedumudi Venu

National award-winning Malayalam actor Nedumudi Venu passed away on October 11. The thespian’s sudden demise has come as a shock to the entire entertainment industry and Mohanlal, who has worked with the veteran in numerous movies has now penned an emotional note, and bid adieu to his dear co-star.
Mohanlal and Nedumudi Venu’s friendship dates years back. Back in late 1970s, Mohanlal had approached Nedumudi Venu, along with his few friends, for the thespian's dates for ‘

Thiranottam

’. Mohanlal was yet to make his debut and their relationship flourished over the years and the duo were shooting for ‘Aaraattu’ a few months ago.

Nedumudi Venu and Mohanlal were seen as prominent characters in the 1994 film ‘Thenmavin Kombathu’.

Yet another Priyadarshan film ‘Thalavattam’ featuring Mohanlal in lead. The movie saw Nedumudi Venu as Dr. Unnikrishnan.

Nedumudi Venu and Mohanlal were Priyadarshan’s favourite actors and ‘Poochakkoru Mookkuthi’ too featured the duo.

Nedumudi Venu played a psychiatrist, who is treating Sagar Kottappuram’s (Mohanlal) love interest in ‘Ayal Kadha Ezhuthukayanu’.


Mohanlal took to his social media handle and penned, “Beloved Venuchettan, who had stood as the soul of Malayalam cinema for half a century, has left us. The demise of the great talent, who began his journey from theatres and later on conqured the heights of natural acting, is one of the biggest losses for Malayalam cinema. A loss for me on personal grounds too. He was affectionate to me as an elder brother,” Mohanlal said in his note.
