'Neru, which marked the fourth collaboration between Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph, started off on a great note. The film released on December 21 made an estimated opening of Rs 6 crore, of which Rs 2.80 crore came from India, predominantly from Kerala, according to the Sachnilk website.

Upon receiving a heartwarming response from the audience on the first day, Mohanlal penned a touching note expressing gratitude. His Instagram post read, “Much obliged. I was humbled by all the love pouring in for #Neru. Much love and thanks for every kind word and to the wonderful team behind this success!”

Our critic rated the courtroom drama 4.5 out of 5 and wrote, “If you are looking for a classy, massy film, no one does it better than Jeetu Joseph. He delivers something that not only gives you an adrenaline spike but also gets you emotionally invested. This could be considered even superior to the Drishyam franchise and is sure to give a pan-Indian boost to Malayalam content. Unlike Drishyam, Neru has a more realistic story and merits this. Nonetheless, it is no less massy and will appeal to all audiences.”
