‘Holy Wound’ to ‘Malayankunju’: OTT films you shouldn’t miss this weekend

Who doesn’t love sitting on their comfy sofa, munching on that mom-made potato chips, and tuning to their favorite movie, especially on a perfect rainy day? This weekend there are several options left for a movie buff to watch both in theatres and mini-screens. Here let's take a look at some of the new OTT Malayalam movie releases that you shouldn’t miss this weekend.

Fahadh Faasil played an ill-tempered electrician in the survival thriller ‘Malayankunju’ directed by the debutant Sajimon Prabhakar. The film received much adulation from the audience when it hit the big screens and now, after a successful theatrical run ‘Malayankunju’ started streaming on a popular OTT platform. Popular director Mahesh Narayanan penned down the script for ‘Malayankunju’ and AR Rahman composed the background score for the film. If you are all in for a realistic survival thriller, ‘Malayankunju’ is surely your pick for this weekend.

Ashok R Nath’s directorial film ‘Holy Wound’ has a unique take on same gender love and the film had a direct OTT release. Scripted by Paul Wiclif, ‘Holy Wound’ centers around women from different backgrounds and circumstances who fall in love. The film is touted as a romantic drama and tries to bring light to several dark corners of the society and their orthodox thinking. Actors Janaki Sudheer and Amrita played central characters in ‘Holy Wound’.

After a series of realistic and feel-good drama movies, the mass-entertainer ‘Kaduva’ had a gigantic entry in Mollywood and the film also performed well at the box office. Prithviraj Sukumaran played the kickass central character named Kuruvachan and Vivek Oberoi essayed the antagonist character in the action entertainer helmed by the hit maker Shaji Kailas. If you are craving for a complete mass entertainer this weekend, then tune into this Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer.

Mollywood debutant director Abhijith Joseph teamed up with the versatile actor Jayasurya for the thriller ‘John Luther’ and the film also gained average to good responses from the audience. Jayasurya played a central cop character who loses his hearing ability while on an investigative mission and is on a hunt to catch the culprit behind the missing case of a teacher named Prakashan. There are several twists and turns in the movie that will surely keep you on the edge of your seats. Actors Deepak Parambol, Siddique, Sreelakshmi, Senthil Krishna, and Athmeeya Rajan also played significant roles in the movie.

Now the Mollywood legendary actor Mohanlal has become the part of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign as the actor is seen hoisting the tricolor flag at his residence on Facebook live. After raising the Indian flag, Mohanlal reportedly said that he is proudly participating in Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav which remembers the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives to keep our flag high.

Mohanlal is seen proudly hoisting the Indian national flag at his residence in Elamakkara. Mohanlal posted the Facebook live with a caption that read, “Jai Hind.” Mohanlal was seen clad in the look for his next thriller ‘Ram’ which is directed by the veteran filmmaker Jeethu Joseph and currently the shoot is progressing.

Earlier several Malayalam celebrities such as Mohanlal, Mammootty, Unni Mukundan, and Suresh Gopi changed their Facebook profile picture to the Indian national flag as the prime minister urged every social media user to do so. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is getting an overwhelming response in Kerala.

On the other hand, Mohanlal is currently shooting for Jeethu Joseph's action entertainer 'Ram' and recently the actor wrapped up the shoot for his directorial debut film 'Barroz' which is touted as a fantasy adventure movie.
