Mohan Sithara turns filmmaker through the film ‘I am sorry’
Music director Mohan Sithara is all set to debut as a filmmaker and the announcement regarding the same was made on Tuesday in Thrissur.
His debut movie, which also has the story, dialogue and script by him, is titled ‘I am sorry.’ It stars debutants Om Prem and Abhina Xavier, and the film will go on floors on August 26 in Thrissur. His son
Mohan Sithara tells us, “The movie is a musical love story, centred around a band. The actors for the project were chosen through auditions and as the story has a band at the centre, I have chosen actors who are also familiar with the instruments they handle. The main locations of the film are Thrissur and Coimbatore.” He says that the movie will have seven songs in total, including tracks in Hindi and Tamil, and a ghazal track in Urdu.
Ask him what urged him to debut as a filmmaker, and Mohan Sithara says, “Even while I was a student, I was into directing plays and have even won many prizes for the same. And I always had this ambition to direct a movie. I had even put together certain stories, dialogues and scripts, but they didn’t really materialize. Once, when I revealed it to someone, they even took the essence out of it and made another movie, without involving me. After all this, I felt that I should go ahead and direct the film myself. When I got the right people to back me on it, I felt it’s the right time.”
