Merin Philip to play a traditional Tamil girl in Eeyal
Actress Merin Philip, who was Kalidas Jayaram’s heroine in the 2019 film Happy Sardar, has been bagging a couple of interesting offers of late.
Merin is part of the upcoming anthology named Eeyal, in which she will be playing one of the major characters of a segment. She reveals, “I play a traditional Tamil girl named Rani in the film. She is a village girl, based out of Munnar and that’s where we shot the film too. The character has a lot of scope for performance and that’s why I went for it.”
She also has the Vinay Forrt – Anu Sithara movie Vaathil coming up, alongside another Tamil thriller film, in which she plays the character of a techie. “At the moment I can’t speak more about the characters in these films, but they too are the kind of roles that offer me a performance space, regardless of their length. I am an artiste who cares the most about an opportunity to showcase some performance, regardless of how promising the entire story of the film sounds, the length of my characters or whether they are lead roles,” says Merin.
The actress, who has been a theatre artiste from the age of 14, is someone who has trained under renowned names like National Award winner director Suveeran, Babu Annoor and James Elia. The artiste, who hails from Anchal in
