- Arabikkadalinte Simham’ reads ‘A grand epic of Indian History’ and today on March 22 it indeed made history by bagging the 67th National Film Awards for the Best Feature film! The National recognition for the best film came to Malayalam cinema after a decade and this win definitely calls for a celebration. Starring Mohanlal, ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ is helmed by ace filmmaker Priyadarshan.

The period drama also bagged two other awards - best special effects and best costume design. The special effects of the film were handled by Priyadarshan’s son Siddharth Priyadarshan.

Kalyani Priyadarshan, who has also done a cameo for the film took to her micro-blogging site Twitter and shared her happiness for the big win her father Priyadarshan and brother Siddharth and the entire team has bagged. “SO proud of my two main men! Apart from everyone else who is like family to me who are a part of #Marakkar. It’s the first time 3 of us came together for a film and it means the world to see it being recognized in this way. Words can’t describe what this project meant to me (sic),” she tweeted.

Meanwhile, ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ also won the award for best costume design and it was done by Sujith Sudhakaran and V Sasi.

' is a period drama that tells the story of Kunjali Marakkar IV, the naval chief of the Zamorin. ‘Marakkar - Arabikkadalinte Simham’ features Mohanlal as Kunjali Marakkar IV and the film is scheduled to hit the screens on May 13.
