Mamta Mohandas seems to be taking her time signing projects in Malayalam, and when she does she ensures that it’s something unique. Her latest commitment is a
forensic
investigative thriller titled Forensic, in which
Tovino Thomas in the lead.
The film was earlier supposed to be directed by cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev. However, due to his prior commitments, Sujith has dropped out of the project and its scriptwriters
Akhil Paul and
Anas Khan will now be helming the movie.
Akhil tells us, “Mamta is not Tovino’s pair in the film, but she is the female lead. Revealing anything more about the character would give away the plot.” Tovino’s character, meanwhile, works in the forensic department.
The film, which will go on floors in October, will be shot entirely in Kerala. “We are in the final stages recce and will confirm the location soon,” he adds. While Akhil had previously scripted 7th Day, this is the first filmmaking venture for Anas, who had studied with Akhil during their mechanical engineering course in a reputed college in Kollam.
For the script, the team have been collecting information on similar cases that has happened over the years. When Sujith was attached to the project, he had told us that they have analysed how the doctors and forensic department were involved in these cases and how the police looked at the murders. They have also been meeting people to understand these aspects better.
