Mammootty is all set to don the character of a cop once again for an upcoming action thriller directed by Nithin Renji Panicker, which is tentatively titled 'Kasaba'. The movie marks the directorial debut of Nithin, son of popular writer-director, Renji Panicker. The film, which is said to be a comic thriller, will have Mammootty playing the character of Rajan Zachariah.
This role is said to be entirely different from the earlier police officer roles reprised by the actor.The filming of the movie has already commenced in Bangalore.

The movie also features debutant Varalaxmi SarathKumar, daughter of actor Sarathkumar, essaying the female lead. According to sources, Poonam Bajwa and Tamil actor Sambath would also be seen in pivotal roles. 'Kasaba' is produced by Renji Panicker and Anto Joseph under the banner Goodwill Entertainment.
