Award-winning Malayalam film, ‘Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha’ featuring
Mammootty is all set for a re-release! Ranjith’s directorial, which got a 4K resolution makeover is all set to re-release, interestingly for the third time, since its initial release in 2009. Producer Maha Subair is the figure behind the 4K revival. The makers decided to re-release owing to its second re-release, which proved to be successful.
Ranjith's masterpiece, based on TP Rajeevan's eponymous novel, tells the story of a private detective, who returns to his birthplace to solve a murder mystery that occurred on the same night he was born. An exuberant Mammootty plays three characters - Haridas, Murikkinkunnath Ahmed Haaji, and Khalid Ahmed in the film. Haridas is the protagonist, who is a private detective in New Delhi. Murikkinkunnath Ahmed Haaji is a wicked feudal landlord of ancient Paleri who had a dangerous sex drive.
Khalid Ahmed on the other hand is an elderly scholar who is Haji's eldest son. Actors Shwetha Menon and Mythili play pivotal roles in the film. ‘Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha’ also marks Mythili’s debut film as an actor. Actors Gowri Munjal, Sreenivasan, Musthafa, Siddique, and Suresh Krishna play some of the supporting roles in the film.
The film won several awards, including four Kerala State Film Awards - Best Film ( AV Anoop and Maha Subair), Best Actor (Mammootty), Best Actress (Shweta Menon), Best Makeup Artist (Ranjith Ambadi, S George).
