Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty added another proud achievement to his legendary journey after receiving an honorary doctorate from Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam. The prestigious honour was presented by Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar during the university’s grand convocation ceremony. Mammootty was recognised for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema over several decades. MG University honours Mammootty for contribution to Indian cinema
Mammootty received the honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) degree for his remarkable contribution to cinema and culture. The university also honoured renowned nadaswaram artist Thiruvizha Jayashankar and vascular surgeon N Radhakrishnan during the same event. Speaking after receiving the honour, Mammootty shared a heartfelt message on social media. “Humbled to have received the Honorary D.Litt. from Mahatma Gandhi University today, presented by the Honourable Governor of Kerala. My gratitude to each and every one of you who stood by my side throughout this memorable journey,” he wrote. This is the third honorary doctorate received by Mammootty in his career. Earlier, he had received similar honours from the University of Kerala and the University of Calicut.
