A few weeks ago, the female casting of Mammootty-Ranjith duo’s Leela had generated a lot of buzz. However, the latest from the camp is that the project has been put on hold and the two will work in another project instead. A source close to
Mammootty tells us, “While they were planning to start
Leela by April, the dates have been given for another project they would be doing together.
Ranjith is still working on the script; so no details can be revealed.”
The source also informs that
Leela, which is based on R Unni’s short story, has been pushed to a later date. Ranjith was unavailable for comment. It’s been reported that the director is in Wayanad for the last two weeks writing the script and dialogues for the film, which he would also be directing.
The filmmaker’s script has always brought out the best in Mammootty and so this too should be worth the wait. Currently, Mammootty is filming for
Salim Ahmed’s
Kunjanantha-nte Kada, after which he has allotted dates for the Ranjith movie.
