Mammootty, Mohanlal, and other M-Town celebs extend wishes on Chingam 1

Chingam marks the first month in the Malayalam calendar and Chingam 1 is observed as the New Year by Keralites. Chingam 1 falls on Wednesday (Aug 17) this year, and the day is believed to bring prosperity and luck. From slipping into traditional outfits to having a delectable sadhya (feast), the New Year day is celebrated with much zeal and vigour in the state.
On the special occasion of Chingam 1, Malayalam movie celebrities including Mammootty, and Mohanlal, have taken to their respective social media handles to extend wishes to their fans, and netizens.
Mammootty dropped a picture of him decked up in ethnic outfit, and penned, “My heartfelt new year wishes to all Malayalis.”

“With new hopes Chingam is here. The New Year of Malayalam. May the upcoming days be filled with love, joy and peace... Happy New Year to all 🌾,” Mohanlal tweeted.

Legendary playback singer KS Chithra too wished fans on the auspicious occasion.

Singer Shwetha Mohan dropped a couple of pictures of her decked up in a kasavu saree and penned, “Today is "Chingam 1" ... Start of a new year in the malayalee calendar 🥳.”
