Mammootty congratulates Mohanlal on Dadasaheb Phalke honour; 'Kalamkaval' actor says, 'To our beloved Lalu'

Mollywood witnessed a truly emotional cinema moment when Mammootty congratulated Mohanlal in person on winning the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

The warm gesture unfolded on the Kochi set of 'Patriot' which is directed by Mahesh Narayanan.


Mohanlal joined the final schedule of the shoot on Saturday, marking his first meeting with Mammootty since the big honour was announced.

Mammootty shared a video of the moment with the heartfelt caption, “ഫാൽക്കെ അവാർഡ് നേടിയ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട ലാലുവിന് സ്നേഹപൂർവ്വം … (To our beloved Lalu who won the Phalke Award with lots of love…)”

'Patriot' reunites Mammootty and Mohanlal after 17 years

'Patriot' marks the long-awaited on-screen reunion of Mammootty and Mohanlal after seventeen years. The project brings together one of the biggest ensemble casts in recent Malayalam cinema.

Alongside the two icons, the film stars Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Revathi, Darshana Rajendran, Sereen Shihab, Jinu Joseph, Rajiv Menon, Danish Husain, Shaheen Siddique, Sanal Aman and several others. Written and scripted by director Mahesh Narayanan himself, the film promises a high voltage action flick.

Shoot nearing completion

'Patriot' has been filmed across multiple international and domestic locations including Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Delhi, Sharjah, Kochi, Ladakh and the UK. The final schedule is now underway in Kochi, where the highly anticipated Mammootty–Mohanlal combination scenes are being shot.

On the work front, Mammootty is riding in the success of his recently released crime drama movie 'Kalamkaval'. The superstar played an antagonist role opposite Vinayakan and received magnificent responses from the audiences. The film is directed by Jithin K Jose and also features the actors Rajisha Vijayan, Shruti Ramachandran, Gibin Gopinath, Azees Nedumangad and many others in pivotal roles.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal was last seen in the feel-good drama film 'Hridayapoorvam' which was directed by Sathyan Anthikad. The movie had received good reviews from the audiences. Recently Mohanlal confirmed his collaboration with Tharun Moorthy again after 'Thudarum'.
