Mammootty and Mohanlal starrer ‘Patriot tipped for a summer 2026 release - Reports

Superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal are teaming up yet again for a Malayalam film titled ‘Patriot’. The makers have wrapped up the shoot earlier this month, and looks like they are eyeing a summer release.

'Patriot' to likely release in April 2026

Mahesh Narayanan’s directorial is heading towards post-production, and if reports are to be believed, the film is likely to be released on April 23 this year. According to a report by IANS, the makers are planning to lock the release in April. However, the makers are yet to announce the release date.





The makers of the film had wrapped up the shoot on January 4. They announced the pack up via social media. “That’s a wrap. Blood, sweat, belief. #PATRIOT marches on. See you on the Big screen,” they said, as they launched a BTS video of the actors from the sets.

All about ‘Patriot’

Helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, ‘Patriot’ is one of the most anticipated upcoming films from Malayalam. The film also has an ensemble cast of Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, and Revathy in addition to the superstars.

The teaser of the film was launched last year. It opened with a voiceover which says, “I remember there was a time when this nation was controlled by the two of them. Together. Over these years, what they earned wasn't just followers. Faith. Trust."

After a couple of intense scenes, one can hear Mammootty’s character saying, “They are going to bring social score to people." Mohanlal, who appears to play an army general says, “There are three of us. Do you think you can stop us?" The teaser also revealed that Kunchacko Boban essays the role of Daniel.

In the teaser, Nayanthara is heard asking about the Periscope program,"This program which is part of the student laptop scheme. Is that similar to Periscope?" Another voic over asks, "Is this program watching them secretly?" The teaser concludes with Mammootty asking someone to complete the sentence - Great Indian traitor... or Patriot."
