Mammootty-Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s film titled ‘Padayaatra’; meet the cast and crew

It’s official! Mammootty and Adoor Gopalakrishnan are reuniting after 32 years. Mammootty confirmed the collaboration on Thursday, and now the actor has announced the title of the film. Mammootty-Adoor Gopalakrishnan film is titled ‘Padayaatra’. The makers have launched the title with a puja ceremony.

On Friday, January 23, the makers launched the title poster and also revealed the cast and crew of the film. Mammootty’s home production is bankrolling the film. “Proudly Presenting The Title Poster of Our Production No.8, ‘Padayaatra' Directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan,” the makers said in a post shared on Instagram.

Starring Mammootty, ‘Padayaatra’ also has Indrans, Grace Antony, Sreeshma Chandran, and Zeenath AP in the lead roles.

Meet the crew of 'Padayaatra'

Helmed by the iconic Adoor Gopalakrishnan, ‘Padayaatra’ marks his reunion with Mammootty, 32 years after their ‘Vidheyan’.




Adoor Gopalakrishnan and KV Mohankumar are jointly crafting the story, screenplay, and dialogues for the film. Meerasahib is the associate director. Shehnand Jalal has roped in as the cinematographer, and Praveen Prabhakar is the editor. The music for the film will be composed by Mujeeb Majeed. Shajie Naduvil is the production designer. Kishan Mohan of Sapthaa Records is the sound designer. Ronex Xavier, and George Sebastian are in charge of the makeup, while SB Satheesan is the costume designer.

Talking to Manorama News earlier, Adoor Gopalakrishnan said, “As the scripting was going on, only Mammootty’s face came to my mind for the central character. I felt that he would be the perfect person for the role. This will be the fourth time he plays the male lead in one of my films. I’ve never worked with any other lead actor that many times.”

Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Mammootty’s previous collaborations

Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s first collaboration with Mammootty was in 1987 for the movie ‘Anantaram’. A psychological drama, the film featured Ashokan, Mammootty, and Shobana in the lead roles. They teamed up again in 1990 for ‘Mathilukal’, which was an adaptation of Vaikom Muhammad Basheer's novel. Mammootty's portrayal of Basheer won him the National Film Award for Best Actor.
